During renovations in the house, sooner or later the question arises of choosing a suitable bath. This is a type of plumbing that a person uses regularly, so it should be comfortable, practical, and stylish. The bath is selected depending on the dimensions of the room, shape, materials, and design. The main role for the client is played by the shape of the bath, as it should be comfortable to bathe in it. Today, the plumbing market presents a huge selection of bathtubs of various and even individual shapes. The universal and most comfortable bath shape is rectangular. It fits different room sizes and styles, and it is comfortable for people of any height to swim and lie in it.
The choice of the optimal shape of the bath depends on the preferences of the client. If regular bathing is planned and a person likes to lie down, then the device should be long and deep enough. The bath should not be narrow to lie comfortably in it for a long time.
Basic forms of baths
In stores and online sites there are a variety of forms of bathtubs, so making a choice is quite difficult. To decide, you need to know the features of each of the forms and individually select them for your needs, as well as the dimensions of the bathroom. Bath shapes:
- Rectangular – straight and the most common. It usually has a simple design, suitable for installation against a wall or in a corner. It can be one piece, with legs, or with sheathing, depending on the style and cost of the structure. Faucets and drains are located at the feet, which makes their use as convenient as possible.
- Corner – a special shape in the form of a square, semicircle, or rectangle, allowing you to place the bath in any corner of the room. It provides much more space for bathing and allows you to be in it both sitting and lying down. These bathtubs work well as a hot tub or spa. Their only drawback is considered to be slow filling since they are very deep and require a lot of water.
- L-shaped – takes up little space, but at the same time gives enough space for swimming. It is convenient to install a shower in it, filling is quite fast. As a rule, installation is carried out in a corner.
- U-shaped – has extensions at the base, where the faucet and drain are attached. Such baths are placed in the corner (there are left and right-sided). It is convenient to use for attaching a shower, where the widest part of the bath is a bathing tray.
- J-shaped – a bathtub with one straight and a second curved end. Such a bath is optimally suited for long lying, as it has a smooth descent. It is quite economical in terms of occupied space and fits the modern style of the room.
- Economy is a rectangular bathtub with one end shortened or placed at an angle. These types of bathtubs are often made to save space so that other sanitary ware can be placed in the room. They are placed under the wall or in a corner.
- Oval – often this type of bath is installed as freestanding. It is optimal for large rooms and is the highlight of the room. Most often, such a bathtub is on legs and is suitable for both modern and retro styles.
- Round-deep free-standing bathtub, providing a comfortable bathing process. Often this form is used for a jacuzzi or hydromassage.
- Square – usually installed inside a special pallet. Suitable for jacuzzi and spa, deep and freestanding.
- Slippers – an unusual name, because the bath is shaped like a slipper. Straight on one side and curved on the other, it allows you to lean back and enjoy the bathing experience. This is one of the luxurious bathtub models that is installed as freestanding. Fits in with a modern, vintage style and can even be placed in the bedroom.
- Bato – round shape with one inflated end. Such baths are considered elite, installed in luxury homes, and used as freestanding. Often the material for these bathtubs is not only the usual acrylic but also brass or copper.
- Bathtub with walk-in shower – designed for users with reduced mobility. A special door to the bath allows you to enter, and not climb, as in devices of other forms.
Features of the choice of forms
The most comfortable bath shape is chosen, taking into account who, how often, and how will use it. First of all, you need to choose the shape of the bath according to the dimensions that will fit in the room. Next, you should decide on the appearance of the structure and how accurately it fits into the overall style. Shower installation is another important criterion. Not in all forms it will be convenient and practical to use it. An important aspect is the cleaning and care of the bathroom. In this regard, the simplest are rectangular shallow baths, which can be washed quickly.
The number of taps, their location, the presence of drains – all these are questions that need to be resolved before buying a bath. The chosen shape of the bath may not include, for example, the placement of a tap in the middle of the structure, but the design is intended exactly that. Therefore, the shape and types of bath should be thought out at the design stage of the room, taking into account possible dimensions and other mandatory nuances.
If you plan to bathe several people at the same time in the bathroom, for example, children or partners, then it should be deep and wide enough. As for the installation of a jacuzzi or hydromassage, it should be remembered that baths, slippers, and other forms do not imply the placement of such additions. For these cases, you should choose a square, rectangle, corner, or round bathroom and provide them with all the auxiliary options.
