Frame Relay Access Device (FRAD) is a network device that serves as an interface between a Frame Relay network and local area networks (LANs) or other types of networks. It is responsible for encapsulating and de-encapsulating data packets into Frame Relay frames, allowing different types of networks to communicate over the Frame Relay service. FRADs provide functionalities such as data framing, addressing, error detection, and sometimes data compression, facilitating the connection of end-user devices to the Frame Relay cloud.
