WPA stands for Wi-Fi Protected Access. It is a security protocol designed to create a secure wireless local area network (WLAN). WPA was developed to improve upon the earlier WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) standard, which was found to be insecure. WPA provides better data encryption and user authentication capabilities, and it has undergone further enhancement with the introduction of WPA2 and WPA3, which offer even stronger security features through improved encryption methods and additional protections against common types of attacks.
